A scenic stop with plenty of space for dogs.
We were staying in Kingsbarns last weekend, so before heading home on Sunday morning, we popped down to the beach for a quick walk with the girls.
It’s one of those places we go fairly often, and although it’s more of a scenic beach stop than a full dog walk, it’s always worth a visit.

Parking & Access
There’s a car park right by the beach. The road into it is quite narrow, and it was fairly busy when we arrived, partly because it also accommodates camper vans.
There are toilets there, a food van, and even some kind of portable sauna.
Parking is free, but it’s one of those places where you still have to display a ticket, so it’s worth keeping an eye on that.
From the car park, it’s only a very short walk down to the beach.
First Impressions
Kingsbarns is a lovely sandy beach, and because we went at low tide, it looked much bigger than usual.
It’s not huge, but it’s definitely a decent size, with plenty of open space when the tide is out. The beach is mostly sandy, although it gets a bit rockier when you walk further out towards the sea.
It’s also right beside a very posh golf course, with the coastal path running nearby, so it feels like one of those classic East Neuk spots that’s made for photos.

How It Was With the Dogs
There were quite a few people walking, and a few dogs around too, but because the tide was low there was still lots of room.
At the start, the girls did a bit of barking and lunging, but once we got further out we found a little detached section of beach and managed a short off-lead session.
One off-lead dog came quite close at one point, and Pepper did have a go at it, although it felt more like a friendly thing than straight aggression. She can be funny with some dogs (not many) but she does seem to have a friendly side to her.
Overall though, there was plenty of space to move away when needed, which made it much easier to manage.
How the Girls Were
They both loved it.
Heidi found some weird seaweed and was clearly having the time of her life. There was lots of digging, lots of zoomies, and generally just very happy dogs.
I think they both enjoyed it equally, which is always nice.
I was still on high alert, as always, but we managed to get away from everyone for a little while, and that was enough to relax a bit.

Overall
This is definitely more of a scenic beach stop than a full dog walk, unless you decide to carry on along the coastal path.
But as a quick beach visit, it works really well.
The big plus is the space, especially at low tide. If you time it right, there’s enough room to keep things calm, even with reactive dogs.
Would I go back? Yes, definitely. Would I recommend it for reactive dogs? Yes, just keep an eye on tide times, and keep them on lead unless you’re absolutely sure you’ve got enough space.
The girls would give it 5/5, and to be honest, so would I.
